Other Activities of the Episcopal Church Women of West Tennessee
For many years, we gave scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrated exceptional academic strength and who were leaders in the Episcopal community. We have not been able to continue this tradition recently, but we are so thrilled for our past scholarship winners, who have become active adults in the church and their communities. Thanks to all the contributors who were able to help make these scholarships possible!
State, Regional and National Meetings
In order to participate in the rich traditions and new opportunities for spiritual and community growth of the Episcopal Church Women’s groups throughout the country, we participate in State, Regional and National meetings. We would love to send more delegates, so please consider going with us.
Our Companion Diocese - Haiti
Our Episcopal Church Women strongly support the West Tennessee Haiti Partnership which sends medical mission trips twice a year to St. Vincent's School for Handicapped Children in Port au Prince. We have provided water for the food packing events for Haiti described below and we are working to develop relationships with the Diocese of Haiti and its people.
Past Projects to Help Haiti During the fall of 2009, several hundred volunteers met at Church of the Holy Communion to pack food for Haiti. The Episcopal Church Women of West TN contributed 300 bottles of water for the volunteers to drink while packing. The food arrived safely in Haiti and was used after the earthquake by the children in the care of the Episcopal Diocese there. Volunteers packed again at Holy Communion again in July of 2010 and the ECW of West TN provided 500 bottles of water.
Women’s Silent Retreats
All women are welcome to attend the Women’s Silent Retreats that are held the first Friday of each month at St. Columba’s Center in Bartlett. This event is not sponsored by the ECW, but we love to go and bring our friends! See "Parish Events to Attend" in this website, or go to http://www.saintcolumbamemphis.org/stclare/ Contact Dana Sue Percer at 829-3251 or DSPercer@gmail.com with questions.
